Yeley Comes Home 15th in Kentucky

Kentucky Speedway

SPARTA, KY. (September 27, 2015) - J.J. Yeley and his JGL Racing team endured a wild overtime finish on Saturday night at Kentucky Speedway to post their 20th top-20 finish of the 2015 NASCAR XFINITY Series season.  On a chilly night in the Bluegrass state, Yeley would pilot his No. 28 Toyota to a 15th-place finish in the running of the VisitMyrtleBeach.com 300 at the Sparta, Kentucky track.

"We had a pretty decent Toyota out there tonight," said Yeley.  "We were a little loose in the first half of the race but Steven Lane (crew chief) and the JGL Racing crew made some great adjustments and our No. 28 Toyota came to life.  We lost a few spots there on the late race restarts and really should have had a better finish than what we ended up with.  But in all it was a good night for us and a solid performance that we needed."

Yeley would start the 200-lap event from the 13th position after narrowly missing the final round of qualifying earlier in the day.  The beginning stages of the race would find the No. 28 Toyota a little on the loose side early in the center of the corners.  J.J. would maintain his track position around the top-15 for the first half of the event while the JGL Racing crew utilized pit stops to make changes to help with the loose condition.

A critical pit stop under caution just past the halfway mark of the race proved to be the most beneficial and helpful for the handling of the JGL Racing machine.  The last quarter of the 300-mile event would find Yeley and his No. 28 Toyota knocking on the door of the top-10.  A few late cautions and traffic on the subsequent restarts resulted in a couple lost positions in the closing laps for the No. 28 Toyota and when the checkered flag flew Yeley was credited with a 15th-place finish.

"We have struggled during the last few races with this new package we have, but this week we seemed to really gain ground on things," added Yeley.  "We have remained persistent as a team and it seems like we are starting to make some positive progress."

With the 15th-place finish Yeley moved up one spot to 12th in the overall NASCAR XFINITY Series drivers' standings - 84 points out of the Top-10.

Yeley and his JGL Racing team will next set their sights onto Dover International Speedway this coming weekend.  The running of the Hisense 200 will be Saturday October 3rd and can be seen LIVE on NBC Sports Network at 3:30 pm ET.  It can also be heard on Motor Racing Network (MRN) and Sirius Channel 90.
