Yeley Hangs On to Finish 16th at Mid-Ohio

LEXINGTON, OH. (August 16, 2015) - Despite being involved in three separate on-track encounters, J.J. Yeley and his JGL Racing team still managed to secure their eighth consecutive top-20 finish in NASCAR XFINITY Series competition on Saturday. With a never give up approach, Yeley would pilot his No. 28 JGL Racing Toyota to a 16th-place finish in the running of the Nationwide Children's Hospital 200 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

"That was somewhat of a struggle out there today," said Yeley. "We didn't get the qualifying effort in that we deserved as our best lap wasn't recorded with an untimely caution as we came to the line. So we started more towards the back and worked our way forward. And then on three separate occasions I got spun out and lost track position as a result. And each of those times we would march back through the field. So we may have passed more cars than anyone out there today."

On a sunny beautiful day in Ohio, Yeley would qualify his No. 28 JGL Racing Toyota in the 26th position for the 75 lap event on Saturday. The early portion of the race would find Yeley battling the handling of his No. 28 Toyota just a bit. An early caution allowed for Steven Lane (crew chief) to make a race strategy call and bring J.J. pit road for an adjustment. Back to green flag racing saw Yeley drive through the field and knocking on the door of the top-10 before getting spun as a result of contact from a fellow competitor. This would result in the lose of 20 positions on the track.

A few more adjustments in the second half of the race helped further but two more encounters with fellow competitors would derail the progress of the No. 28 Toyota. A late charge and staying clear of a big accident in the closing laps allowed Yeley to safely come home with the 16th-place finish at the Ohio road course.

"It is very difficult to pass on this track so track position is key," added Yeley. "It is a testament to our never give up attitude here at JGL Racing that we were able to come back up through the field on multiple occasions like we did today."

With the 16th-place finish Yeley moved up one spot to 12th position in the overall NASCAR XFINITY Series drivers' standings - only 76 points away from the top-10.

Yeley and his JGL Racing team will set their sights next on the Bristol Motor Speedway. The running of the Food City 300 will be Friday August 21st and can be seen LIVE on NBC Sports Network at 7:30 pm ET. It can also be heard on Performance Racing Network (PRN) and Sirius Channel 90.
