Chad Boat Excited About Big Weekend of Racing

MOORESVILLE, N.C.  (May 21, 2014) - As long as Chad Boat could remember Memorial Day weekend was a special race weekend for his family.  Now as a rookie in the NASCAR Nationwide Series it takes on an even bigger meaning this weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway.  Boat will once again pilot the No. 84 Chevrolet for the Saturday running of the History 300 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway.

"I am very excited to be able to race in NASCAR on this special Memorial Day weekend," said Chad Boat.  "I grew up being at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway every year this weekend watching my dad race.  Now I get the opportunity to race with some of the best racers in the world myself. As we continue to grow our BBM team we strive to run as many races as possible.  The guys on this team are doing a tremendous job in building this brand new fleet of cars and they are strong each time out.  This will be my first time racing at Charlotte and I can't be more excited.  We had a really fast car earlier this year at Texas with a great qualifying run and the hope is we duplicate that effort here this week in Charlotte."

Boat, making his fifth start of the season and his career in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, is coming off a disappointing finish at Iowa Speedway last Sunday.  A broken transmission with approximately 20 laps remaining in the event would relegate Boat and his BBM team to a 29th-place finish.

While the Memorial Day weekend has traditionally been a big racing weekend for the Boat family - Chad looks to add his name and accomplishments to the list.  Chad's father, and BBM team owner, Billy Boat has found great success with racing on this weekend as he competed in eight Indianapolis 500 events including winning the Pole for the prestigious event in 1998.

"For sure this is one of the most special weekends of the year for me and it has been for a long time," added Billy Boat.  "But this year it is maybe the most special as I get to see Chad chase his dream and race in the NASCAR Nationwide Series on this Memorial Day weekend."

The NASCAR Nationwide Series History 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2014 and will be broadcast live at 2:30 p.m. EST on ABC and radio stations affiliated with PRN and Sirius Channel 90.
