David Starr – No. 11 Red Horse Racing Toyota Tundra O'Reilly Auto Parts 250
David Starr on Racing at Kansas: “I am really looking forward to Kansas for a few reasons. First of all, we are all very disappointed in our last performance at a 1.5-mile track (Atlanta). This is our chance to redeem ourselves on the larger tracks and run like we know we should. Secondly, two years ago when I was with this team we did pretty well at Kansas and I really feel like we could have done even better – and that drives you when you get the chance to go back.”
“The track at Kansas is one of the nicest we race on all year. It is a very fan friendly environment and the staff treats everyone great. The race track is set up for multiple racing grooves and that is very nice from a driver’s perspective while also producing some great racing action for the fans. It is always enjoyable when we race in Kansas and I am hoping that it is an enjoyable weekend for us all the way to the checkered flag.”
David Starr on Recent Pocono Test: “We tested at Pocono a few weeks ago and I feel like we had a great test. We worked a lot on coil binding and our speedway packages and I think we really learned a lot at that the test. Anytime you can test it is always a good thing in my book. I am anxious to get to Kansas and hit the track and see how our progress and what we learned works out.”
David Starr on Recent Time Off: “Even though we have had time off from actually being at the race track – this three-week off period has been very busy for me. We went to Pocono and tested for a few days and then it seemed like it took me a few days to get back to Texas as I got caught in all of the American Airlines delays. But once back home, I helped my uncle out at the driving school there at Texas Motor Speedway as an instructor. Of course, I had some chores to take care of around the house and our show car business is doing well so that kept me very busy as well. So not much time off for me in that three week period but I sure am ready to get back on the track this weekend in Kansas.”
Red Horse Racing Partners with Crowne Plaza: The Crowne Plaza Hotel – Kansas City Downtown has signed on as the “Official Hotel for Red Horse Racing” this weekend at Kansas Speedway. Situated in the heart of downtown Kansas City’s Power and Light Entertainment District adjacent to the Bartle Hall Kansas City Convention Center, this Crowne Plaza hotel offers luxury with stunning views of historic downtown Kansas City.
Kansas Truck Seeing Track for First Time: Red Horse Racing and David Starr will be bringing a brand new Toyota Tundra with them this week to Kansas. TRD-116 has never seen the track before and will for the first time during practice on Friday.
“The guys that work for this Red Horse Racing team do a tremendous job in preparing our Toyota Tundra each and every week and that shows in the confidence we all have in bringing a brand new un-tested truck with us this week,” stated Starr. “Jamie Jones is one of the best in the business at preparing these trucks and he has a great supporting cast. So even though we are bringing a truck that has never been on the track I am confident we will be in great shop right off the hauler and onto the track.”
David Starr’s NASCAR Stats at Kansas Speedway: David Starr will be making his sixth career start at Kansas. He has a career best finish of eighth which came in 2006 with Red Horse Racing. Both driver and team are looking to improve on this finish with a strong run this week at the 1.5-mile track.
