David Starr – No. 11 Red Horse Racing Toyota Tundra American Commercial Lines 200 Race Preview
David Starr on Racing at Atlanta:
“The track in Atlanta is a lot like my home track of Texas Motor Speedway, so you can say it is one of my favorites. It is a fast and wide track which allows for many grooves of racing. The multiple grooves allow you to run one of many lines around the track depending on how your truck is handling. All of this allows for one of the most exciting races of the year and the finish is always so close. The guys on my Red Horse Racing team have worked hard on the truck that we will be racing this week and the week off since California gave them an added opportunity to make it even better. I am looking for a great night on Friday and to be in the middle of the close finish. ”
David Starr on Last Outing in California:
David Starr and his Red Horse Racing left the West Coast with a 13th place finish for the second race of the 2008 season at the California Speedway.
“I just could not get through the center,” Starr said. “I had to let off the gas to make it turn through the center. We worked hard all day and did our best out there. I’m proud of our Red Horse Racing team and want to thank all of the guys for their hard work. This is not the finish we had hoped for after a fourth last week at Daytona, but we will take it and go back to the shop to get ready for Atlanta in a few weeks.”
Crew Chief Jamie Jones On Atlanta and Start of 2008:
“We are taking the same truck (TRD 103) that we tested with in Atlanta back in January and raced in California. We are learning all we can about what the truck responds to and needs in order to go fast. At the same time we have had a few opportunities to learn what our driver feels comfortable with. We feel that we have learned a lot after the California race and we will continue down that road and the positive results should continue to improve. Of course we are not totally satisfied with the start of the season, but we are sitting fourth in the points after the first two races and that is something to build on.”
Home State Return For Team Owner Tom DeLoach:
Every trip to Atlanta Motor Speedway marks a homecoming for Red Horse Racing owner Tom DeLoach who hails from Statesboro, Georgia - about three-and-a-half hours from the track. DeLoach went to Georgia Tech where he received his Bachelor's Degree with honors in Chemical Engineering in 1969.
David Starr’s NASCAR Stats at Atlanta Motor Speedway:
David Starr will be making his eighth career NCTS start at Atlanta. His best finish was a fifth place effort back in the 2005 season. His best start at the speedway was 10th in that 2005 event. Starr also has one start at the track in the Nationwide Series where he finished 27th in the 2001 race.
